The merchant city of Venice was renown for its vendors of all kinds. Frequently wine sellers would gather at the foot of the Clock Tower across from the square. During the day, merchants would adjust their stands to stay in the shadow of the bell tower. “Let’s go in the shade” became synonymous with “let’s go have a glass of wine,” and continues to be a popular Venetian phrase today!

Ombra embodies that drive to eat and drink together; to commune. Seasonal offerings and local partnerships keep us all connected to our agricultural communities across Kansas City. Our food and beverage menus aim to foster your sense of culinary adventure, while supporting our local economy.
