You don’t have to wait until the new year to start an exercise routine. You can jump in at any time – into fitness, and into 9Round, the kickboxing gym at The Village at Briarcliff.
“A new workout starts every three minutes, so you don’t have to worry about making a specific class time,” says owner Melissa McFarland. “You can just show up whenever. I have three kids, so I know what it’s like trying to fit fitness in. It’s not fun trying to juggle.”
Melissa recently took over the 9Round at Briarcliff. It’s the fifth 9Round location she owns, and she loves it.
“A 9Round workout only takes 30 minutes, and it’s high intensity,” she says. “There’s always a trainer waiting for you all the time. Plus, the workouts change every single day, so you never know what you’re going to be doing.”
Although this might sound like a gym just for hardcore boxers, that’s not the case at all. 9Round is home to all fitness levels.
“You don’t have to feel intimidated. About 70 percent of our clients are women,” says Melissa. “We have people who’ve lost over 100 pounds with us, and a 73-year-old who’s gone off his meds. It’s athletes to people who have physical challenges and need lots of modifications. 9Round is for everybody.”
And if you’ve never tried kickboxing before? No problem!
“You don’t have to worry about getting lost in a class with a bunch of people,” says Melissa. “There’s always a trainer watching form and showing you how to do it and making modifications for you as necessary.”
This full-body workout works around your schedule. And since you’ll never do the same workout twice, there’s no risk of getting bored. Since the first workout is free, there’s no risk at all, really.
“I love fitness,” says Melissa. “But what I’m passionate about is showing people who are busy with a family that it doesn’t have to be a struggle to exercise. We can still fit it in, and we need to fit it in. 9Round is 30 minutes in and out – you don’t have to be intimidated.”Read More News
